Scottish National Party (SNP)

The cross-party condemnation of the Tory family cap and rape clause has sent a loud and clear message to the UK government.

The Scottish Parliament has voted to call on the UK Government to scrap the rape clause and two-child tax credit cap, with only the Tories in favour of the policies.

I joined with colleagues today outside Parliament to oppose the Tory Family Cap and Rape Clause.

It is is barbaric and utterly disgraceful that any woman is denied tax credits for a third or subsequent child unless they can prove they have been raped.

It is estimated that the two child limit to tax credits will drive an increase in child poverty of more than 10%, with 266,000 additional children across the UK living in poverty by the end of the parliament.

Despite this, Ruth Davidson is ... See more

Most Scots agree Scotland’s Referendum should be made in Scotland

Friday’s Survation poll shows that people in Scotland overwhelmingly back the SNP’s plans to give them a choice over their future.

61% of people think the Scottish Parliament should have the right to decide whether Scotland has a future referendum on independence, with 56% also believing that Holyrood should set the timescale for that to happen — a clear rejection of Tory attempts to prevent the people of Scotland having that choice.

The poll also reveals a clear majority think ... See more

Most Scots think Holyrood, not Westminster, should have the right to decide whether to hold a second independence referendum, according to a new poll.

Support #ScotRef

Today, the Scottish Parliament voted to mandate the Scottish Government to take forward discussions with the UK Government on the details of an order under section 30 of the Scotland Act 1998 to ensure that the Scottish Parliament can legislate for a referendum to be held that will give the people of Scotland a choice over the future direction and governance of their country at a time, and with a question and franchise, determined by the Scottish Parliament.

Great visit to Dundee Contemporary Arts with Chris Law.

Visit to Dundee Contemporary Arts with Joe FitzPatrick for Dundee City West for an update by director Beth Bate.

Hard to believe DCA opened 18 years ago and is just as popular now as it ever was with Dundonians and visitors alike.

Great exhibition in there just now by Mark Wallinger and the print studio was busy with artists working on all manner of creative work.

Dundee really does deserve its Dundee City of Design status.
